Tatiana Figueiredo: We're going to talk about growth strategies for sustainable community growth sustainable being the key word there. Okay I Want to start with this one. What comes to mind for you when you think about marketing and sales?
Talk a little bit more in depth about it, the thing that I've been thinking about as I think much more about growth and the community founders I'm working with are the ways where the ones that are having fun, which some of you sounds like you are, what is it that we're doing right, that others can learn from that, and specifically kind What is different about a community and growing a community from doing any of the online business stuff that everyone else is doing to grow a different kind of business.
So can we bring connection to the center of our marketing process and our sales process? I think what's really important about that is that we have so many choices on how we grow our business and sometimes it doesn't feel that way because so much marketing and sales advice is so prescriptive and it's so much about follow this exact process, build a funnel in this exact way.
Do this on Tuesday and this on Thursday. Post this, post 42 times on all these different platforms. So many of them are so prescriptive and so specific. But what I think actually works and actually works for building community is if you make your growth process. A part of how it feels to be in the community, so it's just a phase one that your potential members are going through before they join your community and in that process, you can pick the actions that feel right to you and that.
that align with what your community is doing and align with everything else that's already working in the community that you're building. Now, what's important here is that you have to do something. A lot of us think Oh, I don't want to be sleazy. I don't want to do marketing. I don't want to do sales.
And then what happens is that like we fall into complete inaction and don't make any action. So by the end of this I'm going to ask you for a commitment some kind of growth action that you can take consistently for your community. So that's the. My aim for this this presentation is to really think about, what's going to align with you and what's going to feel right and good with as you're growing your community.
Okay, so a little bit of background. I think I've talked about this here before. I've noticed that there, for early stage community businesses, there are basically three stages. And really quickly, they are pre launched. So this is before you've launched your community. You haven't really sold anyone anything yet.
There is the startup stage, which your community is up and running. You have some revenue, some things are working, but you're not yet generating a full time salary. And or whatever your goal is with the community, you're not there yet. And then the third stage is expansion. And that is you're making the full time salary from your community and your business model is working consistently.
And it's at this point that you can start to expand into different types of members or different offers, or you can expand what you're doing a little bit more, maybe more growth channels. The one. That this presentation mostly focuses on is getting you out of the startup phase into expansion. So that is like the, if you're in the startup phase where your growth is not quite working sustainably and predictably yet, your goal should be to get that to work so that you can predict how much revenue your community is going to bring in in the.
Medium to longish term. So that is that's what this presentation fits around. So if you're here and. You're in the startup phase. I would love to hear, or even if you're in the prelaunch phase, I would love to hear what's in your way of moving into expansion. And then I'll share some of what I've seen, the themes that are in all of our ways for moving into expansion.
