Doc Williams: The last step in step four and I bring it to the end.
This is the hardest part that people have, I think, is you just have to, you have to go for the ask. You have to really have that conversation. I know that seems very simple, but I, I see a lot of people do so much time and energy try to like do this like advanced algorithm to how much they should charge.
But if you're not confident in your price and when you're talking to people, you can undermine the whole thing. If you are not confident and you're like, this is what I'm gonna go with your body language, when you're asking, doing all these things, if you're saying it's $75 a month, And you're not sure with it.
Like people smell that blood in the water. They're like, you don't even seem confident. I'm not paying $75 month. I'm not here. So really going for the ask. You've gotta understand like your pricing and be confident and, and if you don't know your pricing, let them know, Hey, we're just getting started. You know, I'm still trying to figure this out.
I'm trying to do this with you for the first five. This is the pricing. This is why I'm emotionally feeling this way. There's nothing wrong with telling people where you're at. But you've gotta have real conversations and you've gotta really figure this out and not worry about the norms of the industry and everything like that going for the ask.
And by the way, I had one, one student I asked like, go with this pricing. I told him what to do and he said, I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not going to do that because I'm afraid of rejection. That's what he said. He's like, I, I, I will not do that. I understand Everything that you said to me makes total sense.
I can't do that. And this is the most important step. All of the, you know, the recon, the understanding your audience. If you can't go for the ask and have these real conversation with real people, this is gonna be a detriment to your community. Long term, everyone, money is a representation of something.
You don't fight with people about your, your, your cell phone bill. You don't call up Verizon and tell them like what you're gonna pay. It's just what it is, what it is, right? It it the same thing with cable or whatever for your phone, for your community. You are providing value. You're playing, you're providing a space that is going to change the world.
Change people's lives, charge accordingly. Be honest and really make sure that you feel comfortable. And if you're not, Practice, practice with friends, practice with other people in, in, in the community right here, but really start working on that because everything else is for not, if you don't get this last step right.
